Alfred W LaCosta Jr.

Alfred W. LaCosta, Jr. of Pittstown, N.J. passed peacefully on Thursday, August 1, 2024, he was 86. Born in Pennington, N.J., he was the son of the late Alfred W. LaCosta and Dorothea Wierenga LaCosta.

Al had lived in Somerville, attending Somerville High School, then Gillette in Long Hill Twp. before moving to Pittstown 20 years ago. 

He is survived by his wife Jessica A. Dunn LaCosta; 3 sons, Edmund T. LaCosta and his wife, Linda, of Randolph Township, Lawrence G. LaCosta and his wife, Merce, of Katy, T.X., and Dennis J. LaCosta and his wife, Dawn, of Johns Island, S.C., 13 grandchildren and nine great grandchildren as well as his sister Dorothea Joyce Mollo (Tom), sister in-law Julie Plotkin and a close cousin Richard Frankavilla as well as numerous other cousins. 

He is predeceased by his half-brother Myron Plotkin and two sons Kevin C. LaCosta of Berkeley Heights and Patrick J. LaCosta of Califon, N.J..

 Al served in the Navy during the Korean War and later on was the President of Automatic Transfer in Alpha, N.J.. He enjoyed tending to his yard and taking long drives with his faithful companion Rusty. 

The family will pay tribute to Al in a Celebration of Life gathering to be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Alfred W. LaCosta, Jr. can be made to the American Cancer Society at www.cancer.org click on the tab Honoring & Memorial.
