Catherine M. Barry, “Kitty,” 95, of Robbinsville, NJ passed away peacefully on September 8, 2026, after a brief illness. Her passing came as a surprise to us all, as we always thought she might actually outlive us. Born in Trenton, NJ in 1931, Kitty was a lifelong resident of the Hamilton/Robbinsville area and spent many cherished years in Surf City, NJ.
Retired for over 30 years from the State of New Jersey, she lived an extraordinary life filled with love, laughter, and an active social life. Though her friends are far too numerous to mention, each one held a special place in her heart. She was the bravest, kindest, and strongest woman we knew, capable of overcoming almost any adversity. Kitty was a master organizer, a true friend to many, and a person who made everyone and everything around her feel good. She was an avid game enthusiast with a sharp mind—playing Words with Friends and Scrabble with people all over the world, and she was the undisputed champion at Trivial Pursuit. She was also a legendary cook whose famous gravy will never be replicated.
She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Daniel W. Barry; her parents, Walter and Easter Burns; her in-laws, Walter and Ada Barry; and her sisters, Anne “Sister” Connors and Margaret “Peggy” Geronemo.
Kitty’s greatest joy was her family. She is survived by her loving children: her son, Daniel M. Barry of Hamilton, and her daughter, Patricia “Trish” Barby and her husband John P. Barby of Lambertville; and her ex-daughter-in-law, Lori Barry of Hamilton. She leaves behind hercherished grandchildren: Jillian M. Barby and her partner Chuck Taylor of Bordentown; J. Zachary Barby and his wife Camille of Pemberton; Christine Barry Domeracki and her husband Nick of Burlington; and Kevin Barry of Hamilton; as well as her treasured great-granddaughter, the lovely Josephine Barby.
She is also survived by her nieces, Susan Kelly Breiding and her husband Tim (and Susan's children, Kelly Simpson and Mark Simpson), and a special niece, Christine Connors of Spartanburg, SC. She also leaves behind her husband Daniel’s extended family, the Teddar cousins: Howard, John, and Marianne, with a special acknowledgment to Barbara and Judy for their loving presence and devotion during her final days.
Her warmth, humor, and generous spirit will live on in the hearts of all who were blessed to know her. Services will be held privately. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Kitty’s memory may be made to the Trenton Area Soup Kitchen (TASK).
