Frederick Hamilton Rainear, affectionately known as Fred, passed away on May 29, 2026, in Altoona, Pennsylvania. Born on April 8, 1962, in Trenton, New Jersey, Fred’s journey through life was marked by steadfast dedication, profound service, and an enduring spirit that touched many.
A proud alumnus of Steinert High School’s Class of 1981, Fred charted a varied and remarkable career path. He shared his talents and commitment across several fields—first in the automotive business, then at Princeton Medical Center, and later distinguished himself in the funeral service industry. In the twilight of his professional life, Fred embraced a role as a real estate broker, from which he recently retired. His willingness to embrace new challenges and his unwavering work ethic were hallmarks of his character.
Fred’s service extended beyond his civilian careers; he was a proud veteran of the United States Army, where he contributed notably in the Aviation Division, dedicating his efforts to the training and development of youth. This chapter of his life exemplified his commitment to community and nation—a testament to his selflessness and leadership.
His passing leaves a cherished void in the hearts of many. Fred was one of triplets and is mourned deeply by his brothers Floyd and Franklin, with whom he shared a rare and close brotherly bond. He also leaves behind a loving sister, Ruth, and a brother, Karl. His legacy continues through his niece Lauren and nephew Alex, as well as his two great-nieces, Fallon and Arya. By his side for many years was his devoted life partner, Crist., a steadfast companion through life’s complexities. Fred’s memory is further honored by numerous extended family members and treasured friends who held him close.
He is predeceased by his mother, Ruth Rainear Agans; his father, Franklin Rainear; stepfather, Charles Agans; his grandparents from both the Rainear and Varner families; and numerous uncles and aunts. Their memories remain interwoven with his, providing a rich backdrop to a life well-lived.
Fred’s departure is poetically captured in the reflection that he was “all cried out,” having exhausted every tear through a profound period of grief and struggle. Now, free from life's burdens, his spirit is called to rise eternally, basking in peace and serenity. It is our hope that the fond and precious memories he leaves behind will be treasured forever, offering comfort and inspiration.
A complete tribute and celebration of Frederick Hamilton Rainear’s life will follow, honoring the fullness of his remarkable journey. Until then, may his soul rest in profound peace, forever carried on the wings of remembrance and love.
