Joanne R. Freed, born on February 16, 1941, in Port Trevorton, Pennsylvania, passed away peacefully on September 20, 2025. She was 84 years old.
Joanne was a woman of many talents and a vibrant spirit. She had a lifelong passion for the arts and athletics. From sewing with remarkable skill, to playing both the trombone and piano with grace, and embracing physical activity with enthusiasm throughout her life. Having learned to sew, knit, and quilt from her mother, Joanne proudly carried on that tradition, creating beautiful handmade pieces that reflected her care and creativity.
A dedicated educator, Joanne was a longtime teacher in the Pennsbury School District, where she worked with first through third graders who needed extra support in reading and math. She was deeply committed to helping every child discover confidence and joy in learning.
Joanne was a great athlete, excelling in sports and later officiating high school basketball and field hockey games. Her energy, fairness, and love of competition were evident to everyone with whom she interacted.
She was the beloved mother of Kelly Mulholland, Suzanne Newsome, Lorraine Parsons, and Kathleen Mulholland. Joanne also cherished her role as grandmother to seven adoring grandchildren, each of whom brought her immense pride and joy.
Joanne’s warmth, talent, and strength left a lasting impression on all who knew her. Her legacy will liveon in the lives of her children, grandchildren, and everyone she touched throughout her life.
She will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
