Husband, father, brother, son, uncle, and beloved PooPah Keith Evans Chatten died January 1st, 2021.
Keith was born on July 2nd, 1953 to Joan and Gary Martin and raised by his mother and Chauncey Chatten.
A lifelong resident of Mercer County, Keith graduated from Ewing High School and attended Trenton State and Mercer County Community College. He served his country in both the Air Force and the Air National Guard, working for the base newspaper while stationed in Texas and California. He worked for A&P, later SuperFresh, for 39 years.
Husband to Christine LaBaw Chatten and father of Kyrlyn Chatten (James Sheridan) and Alyssa Chatten (Charlie Brownell), Keith loved his family fiercely, loved to laugh deeply, loved his cats and his friends, and lost himself in countless science fiction novels. He loved creating beautiful artistic light displays and learning new things.
Keith was quick with a pun, first to help others in need, a steady partner in cross country drives, and devoted to his family. Keith became a devoted Mets fan in 1999, and he was a member of Graceway Bible Church.
He is survived by sisters Karen Baczewski, Suzanne Reichert, Jane Martin, Gina Fullerton, Lisa Dougherty; a brother, Gary Martin; and their families. His three grandchildren, August Rhead Sheridan, Magnolia Grace Sheridan, and Elliott Evans Brownell will always remember his smile, silliness, and warmth.
Keith loved Long Beach Island, great seafood, and a marvelous sunset; we loved him deeply and will keep him in our hearts.
Donations may be sent in Keith’s name to Friends of Washington Crossing Park, P.O. Box 1776, Washington Crossing, PA 18977 or The Cape May MAC for the Cape May Lighthouse, 1048 Washington Street, Cape May, NJ 08204.
