Rev. LaMonte Dale Huber, 84, of Burlington, NJ, passed away peacefully on his birthday, October 17, 2026, at Capital Health Hopewell Hospital, surrounded by his loving family and friends.
Born in Mott, ND, to a farming family, LaMonte chose a path of faith and left the farm to attend Bible college. A talented vocalist and trombone player, his musical gifts shaped his life's journey. While singing in a quartet with the Journeymen, he met the love of his life, Joan McFarren, who was playing piano at a local church in East Brunswick. They were soon married, and LaMonte went forward to complete his theological studies at Zion Bible Institute and Central Bible College. Together, they stepped into their first pastorate at Gloucester Assembly of God, where they served faithfully for four years.
The couple answered a call to serve as missionaries in Uruguay, South America, until the birth of their first child, Glorilyn. Upon returning to the States, Rev. Huber went on to serve faithfully as the pastor of Middletown Assembly of God for 13 years, during which time their son, Jonathan, was born. Raising their children in a home filled with music, the Huber family shared their ministry by singing together at numerous churches over the years.
Throughout his decades of ministry, Rev. Huber traveled extensively with Joan, blending pastoral work, evangelism, and music to touch countless lives across multiple regions. His distinct vocals and trombone playing remained a signature centerpiece of their shared calling. In his later years, LaMonte stayed deeply devoted to his family, his friends, and his lifelong ministry. His warm friendliness, jovial spirit, passion for gardening, and helpful nature will be deeply missed by all who knew him. Above all, his steadfast dedication to the Scriptures and his music ministry leave a legacy that will be forever cherished.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Joan Huber; his daughter, Glorilyn Arnett and her husband Bryan Arnett; his son, Jonathan Huber; and his cherished grandchildren, Sylis, Jetty, and River Arnett. He also leaves behind a large community of extended family, friends, and former parishioners who will dearly miss his warmth, dedication, and gentle spirit.
A memorial service celebrating his life and ministry will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, November 21, 2026, at the Fountain of Life Center, 2035 Columbus Rd, Burlington, NJ 08016. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Fountain of Life Center to help seek and save the lost—a cause that remained close to LaMonte’s heart throughout his life’s entirety.
