Lindsay H. Rice Jr., age 78, of Mansfield, NJ passed away on January 21, 2024 with his wife and all of his children and grandchildren by his side. Lindsay was a devoted husband to Beverly Rice (Behrens), the love of his life for 55 years; he was the proud and beloved father of Julie Mounet, Brigitte Hosford (Rod), and Lindsay Rice III (Megan); he was a loved and cherished grandfather to C.J. Mounet, Audrey and Lillian Hosford, and Jackson and Everly Rice; and he was a loving brother to his sister Carol Kimball (Blaine) and uncle to her daughters, Kelly and Kathleen. Lindsay was predeceased by his parents Lindsay and Anne Rice.

Lindsay’s outlook on life was forged from his childhood memories growing up in Hooksett, New Hampshire where he relished the open splendors of the natural world around him. Lindsay was a graduate of High Mowing School and then spent ten years of active duty service in the U.S. Navy before a 37 year career with PSEG. But there was something about the beauty of nature and the thrill of exploration that stayed with him his entire life. He took his family to destinations around the world, like Greece, Australia, and Tahiti. He also traveled with his family across the  United States, and took trips to the family’s favorite destination, Disney World. When at home  each spring, he meticulously tended his flower gardens and bird feeders, bringing home some of that natural beauty he experienced in childhood and his later travels. He taught his children  and grandchildren how to appreciate the beauty in a sunrise and in a sunset.

Lindsay lived his life as an eternal optimist. Even after a terrible neurological disease took away his mobility in the last years of his life, he never complained. He even made it a point to attend his grandchildren’s preschool and middle school graduations, recitals, plays, and sporting events. He only saw things in terms of what he could do, not what he couldn’t. Lindsay was deeply loved by his family and will be missed.

The family profoundly appreciates the kind words and support and asks in lieu of flowers that donations be made in Lindsay’s memory to GBS/CIDP Foundation International www.gbs.cidp.org/donate. At Lindsay’s request, cremation will be private and a Celebration of Life will be scheduled at a later date.
