Mario G Cerri

Mario G. Cerri, 89, of Piscataway, New Jersey, passed away surrounded by family
on April 7 th from natural causes.


Mario was born in Dello, Italy and served as a sonarman in the Italian Navy. Mario
met and married his first wife Patricia when the destroyer he served aboard was at
port in New York City during “Fleet Week” with US and NATO naval vessels.


Mario emigrated to the United States in May of 1962. He lived in Newark, New
Jersey with Patricia and their first two children until they moved to Piscataway in
1968.


Mario was employed as a maintenance mechanic for Great Atlantic Pacific Tea
Company(A&P) in Newark for 11 years. After the facility closed, he worked for
Beecham Labs(GlaxoSmithKline) in Piscataway as a maintenance mechanic until
his retirement in 1998.


Mario enjoyed watching fútbol on tv, regardless of which teams were playing,
sometimes baseball with the NY Mets, and always the Olympics and the World
Cup. He would often take long walks at local parks and enjoyed many day trips to
Sandy Hook Beach. He took several trips back to Italy where he met his second
wife Mariella.


Mario was predeceased by his first wife Patricia in 1985. He is survived by his
second wife, Mariella, his two sons JohnMark and David, his daughter Maria
Konya and her husband, Robert, two grandsons Robert and Michael and a great-
grandson Robbie.


No services will be held and cremation will be private.
