Ron Howden
January 5, 1945 – September 29, 2023
Ron was born in Sheffield, England on January 5, 1945. He is predeceased by his brother,
Jack, and is survived by his sister, Brenda, his wife, Ann Howden, daughter Julie and son-in-
law Jeff Luoma, daughter Tanya and son-in-law John Schamper, grandsons Corey and Dylan
Regos and Tyler and Matthew Schamper, Ilene Howden, good friend, John Kerlin, the Nektar
family and his beloved Misty.

Music and drumming were Ron's passion and life force. Although self-taught, he became an
extraordinary drummer and received much praise and awards. The Nektar band and family
was the world to him. There was nothing he enjoyed more than recording new music, playing
gigs and hanging with other musicians. He met so many people who enjoyed his sense of
humor and good spirit as well as his steady time-keeping. He also loved recording other
musicians in his studio who respected his ability to give suggestions and help in the
productions with his keen ear.

Although he battled health problems in recent years, it never stopped him from taking a gig
and doing his best. Ron never complained and retained his humor throughout the tough
days. His family and friends are devastated at his loss and the music community will
undoubtedly mourn his absence.

As per his wishes, there will be a celebration of his life in the near future.
