Sheila Evans

October 4, 1937 — August 30, 2024

Newtown, PA

Sheila Evans of Newtown, Bucks County, PA (October 4, 1937- August 30, 2024) lived a wonderful, dignified life. She provided comfort and solace for her family and friends while asking little in return. Her husband, John Anthony Evans (Deceased in 1985), adored her and together they taught their children, Glenn & Rachel, integrity, loyalty and compassion, imbuing them with a strong work ethic and the confidence necessary to pursue a thriving life of their own.

Sheila was born an only child to her parents, Alwyn and Mary Rudd, in the town of Rhymney, Wales in Great Britain. Surrounded by a strong family and friends Sheila grew up in a small town where everyone knew their neighbors and shared a sense of community.

After school Sheila opened her own hair & beauty shop where she worked many hours and enjoyed the fulfillment and independence of entrepreneurship.

Sheila had a brief marriage which produced her first child, Kim Thomas Moses (Still residing in Wales) Five years later Sheila met the love of her life John Anthony Evans and had their son Glenn Evans. In 1968 John who worked in the steel business had an opportunity to work “across the pond” and immigrate to the United States of America. They took a leap of faith and boy did it pay off. Just one year later Sheila had her daughter Rachel Evans. John and Sheila were blessed with many opportunities over the years which culminated in 8 job upgrades with 12 home moves within 5 different States. Through all the relocations, Sheila never failed to be anything less than excellent as a mother and homemaker, instilling in her children's manners and friendliness as the family assimilated to new surroundings. In 1981 John and Sheila started their own business that grew and thrived until John’s sudden passing in 1985. Sheila never remarried.

Sheila and her daughter Rachel were best friends. They talked at least once every day. No one  knew her better. Sheila adored her son Glenn (the favorite) according to Rachel. She was blessed with 4 wonderful Grandchildren, Danielle (Kim Moses) John (Ariel) Evans and Julie Evans (Glenn & Kristi Evans) Dylan Evans (Rachel Evans) and 1 wonderful step grandchild Ashley Moyer (Glenn & Cathy Evans) Sheila had 3 Great Grandchildren, Neave, Elora and Willow.

Sheila loved a spotless home, her steak well done, ball room dancing, her granddaughter Julies red hair, Sunday drives, punctuality, a good crime scene drama, a quick wit. She was sneaky with a wink, tight with a buck but loose with a compliment. Most of all she loved any time spent with her family.

To her daughter Rachel she leaves her kindness, frugality and honesty. To her son Glenn she leaves her wit, common sense and love of travel. To her daughter-in-law Cathy she leaves her love and gratitude. To her Grandchildren she leaves her undying love and sense of tradition. To her relatives and friends, she had too many fond memories to list here.

As requested by Sheila, there will be no official services scheduled. Her wish was for her remains to be brought home to be with her parents in Rhymney, Wales.
