Joseph J Fazio

Joe Fazio of Lawrenceville, 91, passed away from natural causes on May 21st 2021. Joe was the devoted husband to Lois Fazio, father of six sons and 9 grandchildren.  He is preceded by his Father Vincent Fazio, Mother Giovanna Ricupati, Brother Frank and Sister Rose. Joe is survived by his Wife Lois, Sister Frances, Sons; Vince, Don, Ben, Joe Jr, Peter, Paul and all his grandchildren.

Born in Detroit, Michigan, Joe attended Cass Technical High School, earning a scholarship to Arts and Crafts School in Detroit. He further pursued his art career by attending the Art Center School in Los Angeles, California. He was hired to work at the J. Walter Advertising Agency as an Art Director. He was promoted to the New York home office where he worked as a Senior Art Director. Joe and his wife Lois moved their young and growing family to Basking Ridge, New Jersey in 1972 to work as a Group Art Director at Ciba-Geigy. His talents grew and he won many awards such as the Gold Medal from the Society of Illustrators 4 years in a row, Gold Medal from the Art Director's Club of New Jersey, the American Institute of Graphic Arts for Packaging Design. Joe decided to start the Fazio Advertising Agency where he contributed to the advertising of many accounts including Johnson & Johnson, Porges Catheters, Silver Burdett Publishing, and AT&T.

After Joe and Lois raised and educated their six sons, they retired to North Carolina where Joe pursued his first love of drawing and painting full time. He was twice accepted to exhibit his art in the National Exhibition at Franklin Square Gallery in Southport, North Carolina, once winning a merit and purchase award. One of Joe’s landscape painting now hangs at the Brunswick Community College as a gift by the Brunswick County Arts Council. Joe and Lois moved back to New Jersey in 2018 to be closer to family.
